Remarkable R&B and Soul 2021
The smoothest genre there is has seen some excellent releases during these adverse times, and one has to applaud the guts and grit of the musicians for having soared high above.

The star of the year was undoubtedly Doja Cat with her album, which had more than a few stunning tracks. 'Woman' made it big on short video platforms thanks to its imaginative choreography and catchy hook. However, for the quintessential R&B fan, 'Kiss Me More,' the duet with SZA took the crown.
One can find talent anywhere, and this was the perfect introduction to PinkPantheress, who burst onto the scene as a social media sensation and released a brilliant album, to hell with it, this year. One of the better tracks in that album is 'Nineteen.' But it has been quite underrated so far. If one had to pick out a notable but underrated listen for the year, it would be Tom Tripp's 'Running.'
Another great release was by Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems. The Nigerian vocalist released If Orange Was A Place, a great album with excellent production values. She also collaborated on a track on Drake's high-profile album. It’s tempting to pick the year's single-most absolute favourite. By the sound of their first single, the listener knew that Silk Sonic would bring something unique to the party. The Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars-helmed group has a winner on their hands.
